She describes some of the changes Tri Delta underwent during her leadership, including the creation of the traveling secretary program and the move to the 2108 Chicago Daily News Building Executive Office in Chicago, Illinois. Gretchen also recounts being in Washington, D.C. at the outbreak of World War II and being in attendance when President Franklin Roosevelt formally declared war on Japan.
