Isabel Breed lived in this white house while she attended Boston University. Alpha Chapter celebrated its annual banquet here in 1889.

Isabel Breed

The next woman invited to join Tri Delta was Isabel Breed. Although Florence had accepted eagerly, Isabel was more hesitant. A deeply devout young woman, she was concerned that membership in a women's fraternity might conflict with her religious convictions. Sarah, Eleanor, and Florence convinced her that her values would be in accord with the aims and purpose of Tri Delta, and she ultimately agreed to join and become the chaplain. Like Florence, Isabel was a member of the same graduating class of 1889, and so Eleanor and Sarah claimed her as a founder.

After graduating, Isabel became a teacher of Latin and Greek at Stetson High School in Randolph, Massachusetts, from 1891 to 1903. She also served as president of the Ladies Library Association of Randolph, which was founded in 1885 to promote reading, service, and intellectual development for women.

Struggling with poor health, she left her work in Randolph and settled in Lynn, Massachusetts, in 1903, devoting the remainder of her life to literary, social, and charitable pursuits. She joined the Lynn Historical Society, founded a branch of Alliance Francaise, and was active in a number of local organizations, including the North Shore Club, the local chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, The Corporation of the Lynn Home for Aged Women, and the Women's Missionary Association. Isabel passed away on May 27, 1915, at the age of 48.
